5/11/2019 – Wolters Kluwer CCH – Important update on Service Interruptions

UPDATE 5/13/2019 6:50 PM CDT – I finally received the official instructions from CCH on filing certain tax returns with the IRS after the May 15, 2019 deadline within the additional time until May 22, 2019. Those instructions are very long and specific so I have included them on a separate post instead of on this one. You can find those instructions here.

Those of you following along this week have seen some of my posts trying to share information as I received it about the CCH service interruptions. They sent out an interesting update last night 5/10/2019 at 7:49 PM CDT. However, I was already off-line for the night so I missed it until this morning. My account rep also emailed me a copy of this notice early this morning.

Hopefully everyone has received the notice by now, but just in case, here it is. The short summary is that IRS has granted CCH users additional time to file returns or extensions due on 5/15/2019. This deadline is moved to 5/22/2019. More details to be provided Monday, 5/13/19.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Wolters Kluwer Network and Service Interruptions

Dear Customer,

We are writing to update you on the progress that we are making in restoring all of our applications and platforms. On Thursday, May 9, 2019, we shared that the Electronic Filing System (ELF) was restored, and many of you reached out to notify us of your concern about upcoming deadlines.

We are very pleased to share that the IRS has graciously approved Federal Filing Extensions for the following return types due May 15, 2019.

  • 990 – Tax Exempt Organization
  • 1120 – Corporations
  • 1065 – Partnerships

This means that the Federal filing due date has been extended to May 22, 2019, providing you with 7 additional days to file these returns.

The IRS has provided simple but specific instructions that preparers must follow for any return that is filed after May 15, 2019 but no later than May 22, 2019. We will provide those instructions in a separate communication on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Please be aware that we are actively working with State tax agencies to gain approval for similar relief. We will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Should you have any further questions, we have established a dedicated customer support line regarding this incident at 800-930-1753 and a live chat capability at taxna.wolterskluwer.com.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work to fully restore all services.

The Wolters Kluwer Team

I will note that I am not seeing this posted on their website or in their social media channels yet. I get it, they’re busy and tired from a crazy week but somebody could throw this up on their social media channels.
