Yesterday was the September 15, 2020, tax deadline for extended partnerships and s-corporation returns that are filed on Forms 1065 and 1120-S. During the afternoon yesterday, the efile system for the Wolters Kluwer CCH Axcess system went down. It was a complete outage. I’m writing my own post about our experience and thoughts, but I want to share the message that parent company Wolters Kluwer just released so everyone has access to it.
Note that I am a little concerned by the wording because it implies they haven’t reached an agreement with the IRS to make this easier for the tax professionals and clients who are affected by this efile outage.
Here is their message:
Dear valued customer, Thank you for your patience as our teams responded to the event that impacted the ability to upload returns through our Efiling system (ELF) system on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. First, we understand that this occurred during an important and busy time for you and your firm and we sincerely apologize for the disruption this situation caused. We recognize that you may have questions about the impact of the interruption on the filing deadline and we have created a dedicated internal lead to focus specifically on addressing your questions around fees, penalties and abatements.
