Treasury IRS letter to CCH

9/24/2020 Wolters Kluwer Update about CCH 9-15-2020 Efling Situation

The tax professionals who use the Wolters Kluwer CCH Axcess and CCH ProSystem fx Tax programs received some great news. As you might remember, the efile system that both of these programs use went down on the afternoon of September 15, 2020. It turns out, that is a huge tax deadline so it was more than a regular inconvenience. CCH just sent out an update and it looks like the IRS has resolved this situation for us. They are still working with the states to address the state returns due on the same day.

Here is the email that sent out today (September 24, 2020) at 6:56 PM CT.

Here is the message they just sent out:
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work with the IRS and State jurisdictions regarding the treatment related to returns filed on September 16, 2020.

We are now pleased to share the below notice that was issued today from the IRS. Nothing further should be required for these returns at this time and you should not send us any client information.
IRS letter about CCH Efiling Situation on September 15, 2020
Additionally, we continue working with the states to determine their position on the timeliness of the returns they received. We have developed a website resource that will be updated with the most current information as it becomes available.

To access the current state information or should you need additional information please visit taxna.info/abatement

At this site you will find the following:

•    Copies of letters that we sent to the IRS and State jurisdictions
•    Taxpayer abatement template
•    Status of State treatment related to returns filed on September 16, 2020
•    Guidance for steps should you have additional questions

You can also still reach us via the abatement@cch.com mailbox should you have additional questions.

We appreciate your continued patience as we work through this situation.

Respectfully,

Based on the letter above, those of us that were able to efile our returns by September 17, 2020 shouldn’t have to take any more actions on this item. In fact, people who were a little behind and didn’t file because they weren’t ready, might have just received a couple days of grace period, assuming they filed by September 17, 2020.
