IRS Identity Protection PIN

The IRS has a program to help taxpayers prevent unauthorized use of their Social Security Number and the filing of fake tax returns. Once enrolled, the taxpayer uses this the Identity Protection PIN, frequently shortened to IP PIN, to make sure no one files a tax return with their information on it without their knowledge.
