UPDATED for the July 11, 2018 #TaxBuzzChat and recent recaps of previous chats.

What is a #TaxBuzzChat – follow the hashtag on the first Wednesday each month to find out. However, for July 2018, since the 4th of July holiday is on the first Wednesday, the chat is rescheduled to Wednesday, July 11, 2018.

Have you ever participated in a Twitter chat? If not, you’re probably not alone. I hadn’t until a few months ago when I happened to see an announcement from TaxBuzz.com about a chat to discuss tax reform. The next chat is on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 10 am PT with a topic of “Tax Season Recap – Tax Reform and the Future of the Profession.”

I’ll be participating over my lunch from 12 pm to around 1 pm in Austin, TX. If you want some pointers on how to participate in a Twitter chat, take a look at this post How to Participate in a Twitter Chat. There is always an impressive group of tax professional who participate and give their thoughts and insights.

The first chat was on October 4, 2017 and it was the first time I had ever tried to “chat” on Twitter. Since then I have participated in each of the monthly #TaxBuzzChats that they’ve hosted. During the first chat I was a little shy about contributing but, once I got the hang of it, I had a great time. At the time, tax reform was still a concept in its infancy so we were mostly guessing about what changes would happen and ways to plan for the possible legislation. More recent chats about tax reform have really fleshed out some of the details of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Since then, the chat’s have covered many topics and every month Joann Doan posts a recap. If you want to take a look at the past chat’s and Joann’s recaps, here are links to her recaps along with a description of the chat.
